1st Affiliate Website ~ Where Do I Get One?
If you have done some research and figured out which market you’re going to target the next step is to create a website where you can recommend your affiliate products. This can be a really intimidating step for a beginning affiliate marketer. Especially if you have no idea how to build a site or even where to start.
There are some really easy options you can get started with, so don’t worry. Every affiliate marketer had to start somewhere, and you’ll look back on this day, probably soon, and feel good about how far you’ve come.
What kind of site do you need?
Are you building an “authority” type site, where you will go deep into your niche and talk about a bunch of different aspects of your niche?
Are you going to create a small site focused on one product? Maybe doing a review of the product?
Are you creating a small site built to focus on one topic or keyword?
All of these sites are quite easily done in a few different ways.
Free Blog Platforms
You can use any of the hundreds of different free blogging platforms, like blogger, tumblr etc.
Pros:
Easy, you don’t have to install, or have hosting or upload anything. Just choose an url and start writing.
Cons:
You don’t own your content and the platform you choose can delete your account at their discretion.
You have to follow their rules ~ some have rules against promotional links or the type of content you can post.
You don’t have control over your site. ~ You can’t add plugins that could improve the functionality of your site
Create an html site:
Create html pages for your content, and connect them together using a program like Google Page Creator
Pros:
You have total control over what goes on your site and how it looks.
Cons:
Complicated to build and maintain
Does not have automatic functionality to interact with other sites.
Does not have the ability to add plugins or other elements to improve the functionality of your site
Host your own Wordpress Site:
Upload the free wordpress software and create a site on your own hosting.
Pros:
You have complete control over your site, the content.
You own the site.
You can easily create any atmosphere on your site with a free theme.
You can add plugins to improve functionality exponentially.
People can get involved in your site using comments creating a community feeling.
Has automated features to ping new content and even tweet new posts.
Easy to add new content.
You can schedule content to post in the future.
Cons:
You need to have hosting, and a domain name.
A bit of a learning curve to figure out.
As you can see the pros of having a wordpress hosted site are overwhelming. Although you will need hosting and a domain name to do this, these are basic business elements that you should have anyway, and will need for other affiliate marketing efforts.
The learning curve for uploading, and managing hosting, as well as installing wordpress can be intimidating the first time, however, there are tons of free resources that will walk you through the entire process.
